“The Fourth Amendment in a Nutshell: Three Bodies of Law”
Presenter: Andre J. Rosenberg, Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney for the City of Virginia Beach
Description: The goal of the class is to make the 4th Amendment a little less intimidating to lawyers given the variety of issues that the courts have uncovered. “Simplicity” and “ease of locating answers to issues” will be the focus of the presentation.
“Constitutional Issues in Juvenile Criminal Cases.”
Presenter: Afshin Farashahi, Esq.
Description: First, the session will begin with search and seizure issues under the 4th Amendment that may arise in criminal cases involving juveniles. The issues covered will include school searches (such as school locker and searches of students) and will touch on how juveniles enjoy less 4th Amendment protections.
Second, the talk will then move on to confession issues. This section will cover the basics of constitutional provisions dealing with police interrogations and will then discuss the special protections afforded juveniles.
